Rocky Balboa Elected to Boxing Hall of Fame

In what many boxing pundits will feel is a long time coming, Rocky Balboa, 2 time Heavyweight Champion of the World, has been elected to the Boxing Hall of Fame.  As you will remember, Balboa fought two epic battles in the ring against Apollo Creed, losing the former and winning the latter.  Also noteworthy in Balboa's career were his loss and victory against the one dimensional Clubber Lange and Balboa's last ditch comeback effort, which ended in a split decision loss to the current undisputed Heavyweight champion Mason "The Line" Dixon.

Still considered as Rocky Balboa's single greatest accomplishment, he defeated Soviet Progeny and mountain of a man Ivan Drago on Christmas Eve in 1985 in Moscow.  The ramifications of this victory were vast, receiving rapturous applause from the Soviet crowd including Polit Bureau Cheif Mikhael Gorbechev.  The Soviet Union, as a direct result of Drago's loss, collapsed in 1989.

Balboa's career also included two stints as a trainer, with Creed and punk-ass bitch Tommy Gunn.  Creed actually died in the fight that Rocky trained him for and Tommy Gunn proceeded to have his ass kicked by Rocky in a street fight in 1990.  Suffice it to say that Balboa proved a more prolific boxer than trainer.

Lastly, but also noteworthy, Balboa introduced the American public to some of the greatest songs in human history.  Eye of the Tiger, There's No Easy Way Out and Hearts on Fire caused Americans to rethink the genre of pop music entirely.  This contribution by Balboa remains unparalleled.
