In Stanford's continuing effort to make sure that Jim Harbaugh doesn't leave for some other job, Athletic Director Bob Bowlsby has offered to rename the school Harbaugh University. And offered him a shit load more money.
Here is something I will never understand. College coaches who leave schools where they are successful for clusterfuck rebuilding projects at other universities or in the NFL. Let's just run through some recent examples of how bad an idea this is. Nick Saban. Bobby Petrino. Steve Spurrier. Rich Rodriguez. The jury is still way out on Pete Carroll. These guys gave up cushy college jobs to go and try to be a harbor in the tempest somewhere else.
Harbaugh is a guy that has been mentioned non-stop for the Michigan job (his alma mater) but why would he even consider it? Stanford is now a winner. Michigan is now a GIANT loser. Stanford is going to be realistic about the ups and downs of college football as they are not used to winning. Michigan views itself as a title contender every year, except they consistently get out-recruited by every one of the power schools in their conference. Oh yeah, and Michigan is still in Michigan.
I will go on record as saying that Harbaugh is a moron if he leaves Stanford for some other remodeling project job.
